ST. JOHN’S (September 6, 2012) – A daily video news summary with the latest results and action from the stages designed to reach fans across the world will be a highlight of the 2012 Targa Newfoundland international tarmac rally, organizers have announced.
The daily news summary will appear each evening at www.targanewfoundlandnews.com and include features and class standings for the Prologue and each of the five rugged days of competition. Links to the footage will also be found in coverage of the rally posted on the regular Targa site (www.targanewfoundland.com) and on fan and sponsor sites.
“Daily results, photos and news releases have always been available from Targa, but there has never been a commitment to providing a video news feed for six days,” explains Targa organizer Robert Giannou. “Most video productions have been broadcast four- to six-months following the event. Not only will this new program help deliver Targa results faster, and to those fans who really follow the event, we hope this format will provide the opportunity to tell the story of more teams’ adventures at Targa.”
The package will be produced by Hume Intermedia of Toronto with distribution help from Eastlink and the Hickman Motors group.
Owned and operated by Newfoundland International Motorsports Limited, Targa Newfoundland is one of three internationally recognized Targa motorsports events in the world. The 2012 competition starts in St. John’s on September 8 and concludes back in the capital on September 15. The 11th annual rally will cover more than 2,000 kilometres of the challenging, twisty roads of the central and eastern portion of Newfoundland, including up to 450 kilometres of closed-road, flat-out Targa stages.
